Good morning, my beloved friends and respected teachers. It is my pleasure to be standing here before all of you to speak on the topic of zakat.Before I start, I would like us to say thank to Allah S.W.T, the Almighty, whose blessings and grace always with us so that we all can be together here in good health and condition.

Ladies and gentlemen, Islam brings the message of peace and love. Islam wants us, Muslims, to live with love and in harmony along with people of other religions in this world. Islam teaches people to help each other to make the world a better place to live in. That is why one of the five pillars of Islam emphasizes on charity which is zakat.
Ladies and gentlemen, zakat is very important for us. In the Quran, zakat is mentioned several times. Zakat gives benefits to those who receive it and give it. We will get a reward from Allah Almighty if we pay zakat. Zakat will also cleanse our souls from greed and excessive desire for our wealth and possessions. By paying zakat, we will learn that placing too much importance on material wealth is not a good thing to do. It is better to share our excess wealth with those who are less fortunate than us.
Ladies and gentlemen, everything we have, including our wealth, comes from God. We actually do not really own anything ourselves. It is the Almighty who loans us our possessions. And it is our obligation to help the less privileged as the form of our acknowledgment that everything we own is from God. In this opportunity, I would like to encourage all of you to pay zakat. After all, we won’t take our wealth with us when we die, so there is no need to cling to it. That’s all from me. Thank you very much for your attention.
